2013 in film so far…
Six months of a dent has been in put in 2013, and it’s a good time to pause and look at how the year is tracking so far when it comes to film.
Based on the release schedule and film festival circuit in Australia, I’ve managed to review 46 new release movies. In order to qualify for this half-year list each film must have a written review and star rating. Sadly, some films released in early 2013 have not been reviewed because sometimes I get tired … plus there is my marriage, mortgage and a full time job keeping me busy when I’m not in a cinema.
The numbers have been crunched and everything is in a handy graph below that counts the ratings of each film. It’s kind of like in ‘Moneyball’ but with films.
Breaking the numbers down, it has been a pretty good year so far for my eyeballs:
– 27 new films have rated a score of between 3-5 stars
– 5 new films have been average
– 14 new films have rated a score of 2-0.5 stars
Percentage wise: 58.7% are in the positive, 10.9% average and 30.4% negative.
That’s my numerical geek out for the day. Looking forward to the next six months of cinema. May the odds forever be in their favour.
