Spike Lee’s ‘Oldboy’ remake almost hammers in its villain

Director Spike Lee is in the process of casting for the US remake of ‘Oldboy’. So far, Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen have been cast in the leads and the hunt is on for the villain.

‘Oldboy’ is based on the Chan-wook Park film of the same name that was released in 2003.

‘Oldboy’ tells the story of a man who is abducted and imprisoned for 15 years, after which he’s inexplicably released and sent on a hunt to track down those responsible for his imprisonment.

Hit the jump to find out who is close to nabbing the role.

Sharlto Copley (District 9’ and ‘The A-Team) has apparently been offered the role that was previously turned down by Christian Bale, Colin Firth and Clive Owen.

Lee has a hard task ahead of him because ‘Oldboy’ has a passionate fan base and Park’s film is held in high regard by a lot of critics.

What do you think of the casting and remake in general?
