‘The Hunger Games’ slayed all newcomers to stay on top of the box office with an estimated $61.1 million and passed the $250 million dollar mark and is charging toward $300 million.

‘Wrath of the Titans’ opened to $34.2 million that is just over half of ‘Clash of the Titans’ opening of $61.2 million two years ago. With an alleged budget of $150 million it’s not a good result and the franchise might end with ‘Wrath’.

‘Mirror Mirror’ opened to a poor $19 million. Working from an alleged budget of $80 million plus heavy marketing costs it’s not a good result. The waning star power of one of the films leads is probably one the reasons it underperformed as most of the films marketing was reliant on their performance.

‘The Lorax’ is very close to a gross of $200 million. ’21 Jump Street’ and ‘Journey 2’ moved closer to passing the $100 million mark.

‘Salmon Fishing in the Yemen’ made a cameo appearance in the top ten after weeks of being in limited release. It’s bagged $1.9 million from just over 400 locations with a gross of $15.4 million. When it first opened it was only in 18 locations and CBS films is planning to expand its release more in the coming weeks that might get it to the $20 million dollar mark.
