Cumberbatch’s role is still unknown and it will be interesting to see if he’ll play an established character in the ‘Trek’ universe or one that’s new to the series. Considering Abram’s cleverly rebooted the franchise and the timeline in the first film, he has an entire galaxy to play with in the sequel and the prospects are very exciting.

Lots of theories about the plot have begun surfacing online based on these images with someone named “Dave” who contacted Collider stating that Cumberbatch will play a human/humanoid baddie with connections to Starfleet. Collider has a lot more images and details about an IMAX release of the film, check it out here.

‘Star Trek 2’ has a 2013 release, so you better get used to rampant fan chatter and wild theories for a long time.

The wait for this film really puts the ‘long’ in ‘live long and prosper’.

‘Star Trek 2’ is released 17 May 2013 in 3D and IMAX.
