‘I Frankenstein’ sets up lab in Melbourne

The big names and a few local actors are setting up lab in the Melbourne, Australia for the production of ‘I, Frankenstein’.

Cast members including Aaron Eckhart, Bill Nighy, Miranda Otto Yvonne Strahovski will be calling the state of Victoria home for thee ten-week shoot that kicks off production on 27 February.

‘I, Frankenstein’ is based on the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux, and picks up where Mary Shelly’s classic novel left off, and follows Dr. Frankenstein’s creature (Eckhart) into a present day, gothic metropolis. There he is drawn into an epic power struggle between two immortal clans, a battle which will decide the fate of mankind.

The film is written and directed by Stuart Beattie who recently directed ‘Tomorrow When the War Began’ and has writing credits on big blockbusters including ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl’, ‘Collateral’, ‘and ‘G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra’.

The production was rumoured to be delayed due to the strong Australian dollar, but it’s good to hear the production is about to get underway.

Film nerds living in Victoria are in for a real treat as the film shoots in and around the state.

‘I, Frankenstein’ has an expected release date of late 2012 with Hopscotch/eOne is releasing the film in Australia and Lionsgate will be distributing the film in the US.
