Winner: George Clooney & Grant Heslov and Beau Willimon – Ides of March adapted from the play ‘Farragut North’ by Beau Willimon
‘Ides of March’ is an intense political drama that really got the brain ticking over as to the nature of modern politics. It’s an interesting character study in the lengths people go to acquire power and misuse it. The performances are so good because the hard work is done on the page and the film is bursting with gripping monologues and intense confrontations between characters. Engaging and intelligent scriptwriting, and full credit must go to writer/director George Clooney for getting behind the project and not indulging his ego too much.
Just a bit of pedantry.
If I heard correctly in your 702 slot, you questioned Elvis’s contribution to the WW2 effort.
Elvis was only 4 when the war commenced, so his efforts were probably minimal.
You are confusing his exploits in WW2 with his conscription in 1958 to the US Army and subsequent stationing in Germany until 1960.
Hey Geoff, thanks for the correction.
Good you enjoyed the chat, now back to brushing up on my Elvis war history.
All the best
