More details of Ridley Scott’s return to ‘Blade Runner’

Director Ridley Scott must going through a period of nostalgia ahead of the release of ‘Prometheus’ that sees the filmmaker revisit the world of his 1979 film ‘Alien’.

For a long time there have been rumours that buoyed by working on ‘Prometheus’, Scott has been playing with the idea of returning to the ‘Blade Runner’ universe, and last year Alcon Entertainment confirmed that Scott would produce and direct a follow up to the sci-fi classic (Collider story here).

Collider via an official statement have confirmed the shape the new film will take as well as who might be working on the project as screenwriter.

Teaser poster for ‘Anchorman 2′

With the release of ‘The Dictator’ this week, Paramount Pictures are using the film to spruik their next big comedy ‘Anchorman 2’ (and trick people into seeing ‘The Dictator’).

A teaser trailer will be attached to ‘The Dictator’ despite the film’s script not even being complete and shooting starting in February 2013.

Before the teaser trailer appears online, a teaser poster has been released featuring what could be the official title of the film.

Aaron Sorkin to adapt Steve Jobs biography

One of the greatest modern screenwriters will work on a film based on the life of one of the world’s greatest minds.

Sony Pictures released a statement today confirming that Aaron Sorkin (‘The Social Network’ and television series ‘The West Wing’) will adapt the biography of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

Sony lines up ‘Shadow Runners’ for Chris Hemsworth

Australian actor Chris Hemsworth has reached a status in Hollywood where studios are now seeking out projects for the actor to appear in following his success in ‘Star Trek’ (brief but decent), ‘Thor’ and ‘The Avengers’.

Deadline reports that Sony Pictures has hired the writing team of Chris Cantwell & Chris Rogers to work on the script for ‘Shadow Runners’ as a project for Hemsworth.

Jon Hamm cast in Disney’s ‘Million Dollar Arm’

Looks like Jon Hamm is going for a lead film role with Disney’s ‘Million Dollar Arm’.

Deadline is reporting that the ‘Mad Men’ actor has signed on to the film that tells the true story of sports agent J.B. Bernstein, who discovered professional baseball pitchers Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel through a reality show he staged in India with cricket players.

Edgar Wright to shoot ‘The World’s End’ in September

Deadline is reporting that Edgar Wright and Working Title will start production on ‘The World’s End’ in September.

Wright will direct working off a script he co-wrote with Simon Pegg who will also star in the film with Nick Frost.

The film will cap the ‘Blood and Ice Cream’ trilogy established by Wright, Pegg and Frost, that includes the brilliant ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’.

Director Gareth Evans to helm ‘Breaking the Bank’

Deadline is reporting that Universal Pictures has acquired the rights to ‘Breaking the Bank’ as a project for director Gareth Evans.

Evans directed ‘The Raid’ aka ‘The Raid: Redemption’ and if you haven’t seen it yet you are missing out on one of the best action/martial arts films ever made (check out our review here).

Deadline is reporting that Disney has confirmed Bird’s involvement and has already hired writer Damon Lindelof (‘Lost’ and ‘Prometheus’) and Jeff Jansen, who have been working on the script for almost a year.
