The $300 million dollar man Gary Ross, director of ‘The Hunger Games’ may have found his next film after passing on the ‘Hunger Games’ sequel ‘Catching Fire’.
Collider and Heat Vision are reporting that Ross is in negotiations with Summit Entertainment to direct ‘Houdini’.

We heard last week that Lionsgate had a shortlist of directors that they were pursuing to direct ‘Catching Fire’, the sequel to ‘The Hunger Games’.
The list is rumoured to have seven or eight directors listed with David Cronenberg, Alfonso Cuaron and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu allegedly shortlisted.
Today two more names were revealed.

Lionsgate hasn’t wasted any time trying to look for a director for the sequel for ‘The Hunger Games’ after Gary Ross announced he wouldn’t return to direct ‘Catching Fire’.
The reason why Lionsgate are moving quickly is because they’re running out of time with shooting on the film planned to begin in August so they can have access to Jennifer Lawrence before she reports to Fox for the ‘X-Men: First Class’ sequel in January 2013.
Lionsgate have drawn up a shortlist of directors they will pursue.

The sequel begins shooting later in the year and the search is on to find a director. It easy to put together a list of popular directors who could fill the position, but despite Lionsgate pocketing a lot of money at the box office from ‘The Hunger Games’ they’ll be keeping the budget in check. That means most big directors will be out of the picture due to large pay demands.

Now that ‘The Hunger Games’ is a monster hit Lionsgate are getting ready for the sequel ‘Catching Fire’. The three leads Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth are already signed on to appear in the sequel and, no doubt, the third film ‘Mockingjay’ as well.
The biggest player who doesn’t have a deal in place is director Gary Ross and The Hollywood Reporter and Collider are reporting that he is in negotiations with Lionsgate to return.
