In the opening moments of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’, for this reviewer, an entire life with J. R. R. Tolkien’s book flashed before my eyes. It’s an overwhelming moment knowing that the first book you ever feel in love was about to come to life on film. Before bowing down to the altar of Tolkien once again in the hands of filmmaker, Peter Jackson, it was time to lock away the fond memories. The first step into a trilogy of films built off the back of a swift read is daunting, but Jackson has crafted a film that’s a wild and visually stunning quest through a fantasy world all done with the noble spirit of courage and goodwill.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey trailer #2
19 SepI don’t usually post trailers here at The Popcorn Junkie but today I’m making the exception for something really special.
It’s currently worldwide Tolkien Week and Warner Bros has dropped the second trailer for ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’.
Tolkien Week celebrations encompass the 75th anniversary of the publication of The Hobbit novel (21 September) and the worldwide celebration of Hobbit Day (22 September), which is the shared birthday of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins.
‘Unexpected Journey’ is the first film in a (recently) planned trilogy of films under the guiding hand of director, Peter Jackson.
‘The Hobbit’ was one of ther first books I read as a child and it’s a wonderful read. To see the characters and adventure come to life is wonderful and hopefully the film can match the book in greatness.
‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ is released:
14 December 2012 USA & UK
26 December 2012 Australia

Most images from films do nothing but state the obvious such as the below ‘first look’ image of Jeremy Renner in ‘The Bourne Legacy’. No surprises, it looks like Jeremy Renner.

We’ve picked the best ones from the films that have got us frothing at the mouth for in 2012 that include ‘Prometheus’, ‘Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter’, ‘The Avengers’, and ‘The Hobbit’ that are ready to become your new screensaver.
