First look at Joseph Gordon Levitt in ‘Looper’

18 Mar

Wondercon happened in the US across the weekend in Anaheim and director Rian Johnson premiered the trailer for his next film ‘Looper’ while taking part in the film’s panel.

The futuristic thriller takes place in a world where time travel exists, but is only used on the Black Market. When the mob wants to kill someone, they send the target 30 years into the past where a contract killer (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) does the dirty work. Things are going smoothly until Gordon-Levitt’s future self (Bruce Willis) is sent into the past to be killed.

The trailer was just for Wondercon attendees and won’t be officially launched until closer to the release date but a few images have appeared online via Collider.

The images show Gordon Levitt channeling a younger version of Willis and how makeup is being used to make them look similar.

Synopsis:

“In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.”

‘Looper’ is released 28 September 2012 in the US.

I can not wait for this film. Not a huge Bruce Willis fan but I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt and he makes this film worth seeing for me. Also interested to see how it plays out with the whole having to kill his future self thing, sounds good!

Wow that is quite a transformation for Gordon-Levitt! I loved Rian Johnson’s previous 2 films, and I’m really interested to see what he’ll do with this story. Sounds great!
